Bokrea - Book Sale

Tack för kommentarerna på förra inlägget. Nu har jag smält vad som hände och det var ju ingen katastrof - ingen blev skadad. :)

Grrrrrrrr… furious

Grrrrrrrr… Jag är arg på mig själv. Jag har lyckats att radera alla mina foton från de senaste veckorna från min hårddisk. Och inga kopior har jag gjort. Grrrrrrrr…

Jag som brukar köra ”både livrem och hängslen”-metoden för att vara säker på att jag har kopior, har nu lyckats göra en dundertabbe. I vanliga fall har jag kopior både på cd-skivor, på en extern hårddisk och i Picasa, men får nu stå med lång näsa. Istället för att visa mina otroligt vackra och unika foton från i helgen (haha) , foton som nu inte längre existerar i denna värld, botaniserar jag bland mina foton från förra året och drömmer lite om våren. Vi är snart där!!!

Grrrrrrrr… I am furious at myself. I have managed to erase all of my photos from the last weeks from my computer. And I have not made any copies. Grrrrrrrr…

I, who normally use the method of ”both belt and braces” to make safe copies, have now made a real bloomer. I use to make copies and save them on discs, on an external dish and in Picasa, but now I am standing here looking stupid.Instead of showing my unbelievably beautiful and unique photos (LoL), photos that now longer linger in this world, I will browse among my pictures from last year and dream about springtime. We will soon be there!

Gargoyles

Jag gillar historia och jag gillar arkitektur. Därför gillar jag förstås historiska byggnader. En byggnadsdetalj som roar mig mycket är gargoyles – dessa (oftast) fula figurer fascinerar mig.Funktionen för gargoyles var att leda bort regnvatten från tak och fasader, alltså en sorts stuprör i sten. Det finns ”gargoyles” som inte leder bort vatten och dessa kallas egentligen för Grotesques men jag, liksom många andra, slarvar och kallar alla för gargoyles.

I like history and I like architecture. That is why I love historical buildings. And ornaments that make me really happy, are gargoyles – these (often) ugly figures fascinate me.Gargoyles had the function to lead away water from roofs and the sides of buildings, some sort of drainpipes in stone. There are “gargoyles” which do not lead away water and those are named Grotesques but I, and many with me, carelessly call them all for gargoyles.

En del gargoyles har utformats för att skrämma och påminna om helvetes plågor men många har gjorts med glimten i ögat och med en stor portion humor. Motiven är oftast djur som lejon, hundar och apor men också en del fantasidjur. Ibland är det människor eller monster, endast fantasin hos stenhuggaren sätter gränser.Jag brukar försöka fånga gargoyles med kameran när vi är ute på resa och jag har fått ihop en liten samling bilder. Dessutom har jag två gargoyles som flyttat in hos oss - dock inte tillverkade på medeltiden... En bor i trädgården och en vaktar min säng.

Some gargoyles are designed to frighten and remind about the torments in Hell but many have also been designed humorously. The subjects are often animals like lions, dogs and monkeys but it can also be fantasy animals. Sometimes it is people or monsters, only the imagination of the stonemason draws the limits.I use to catch gargoyles with my camera when we are travelling and I have now a small collection of photos. I also have two gargoyles that have moved into our house – not medieval though… One lives in the garden and one is guarding my bed.

Naturligtvis har jag också en del små böcker om gargoyles.

Of course I have bought some literature about gargoyles.
